BKL Advises LG Display on Issuance of Green Bonds in the Aggregate Principal Amount of US$300 Million


BKL advised the joint lead managers on the issuance by LG Display Co., Ltd. (“LG Display”) of US$300,000,000 3.875% Guaranteed Senior Unsecured Green Notes due 2021 (the “Green Bonds”) guaranteed by The Korea Development Bank. The Green Bonds were successfully issued and listed on the Singapore Exchange Securities Trading Limited on November 15, 2018.

The Korean government has pursued much more supportive policy on climate change recently and the issuance of the Green Bonds by LG Display is a testament of growing interest on and commitment to climate change expanding among Korean companies in the private sector.

The Korea Development Bank and Société Générale Corporate & Investment Banking acted joint bookrunners and lead managers, and Société Générale Corporate & Investment Banking acted as the green structuring adviser.

BKL, acting as Korean legal counsel to joint lead managers, provided overall Korean legal advice throughout the issuance of the Green Bonds, including reviewing and advising on the offering circular, relevant agreements and other documents.  The BKL team was led by partner Hee-Gang Shin, and comprised of associates Min Kyung Park and Min Hee Jung, and foreign attorney (State of New York) Heesug Chung.
